Introduction
In Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), one of the biggest challenges in career site configurations is the inability to upload images directly. This limitation requires users to paste URLs of images, making the process tedious and less user-friendly. However, Oracle Fusion provides a solution with its Content Server functionality. In this blog, we will explore how to use Oracle Content Server to upload images, retrieve their links, and use them in career site configurations. Additionally, we will discuss potential drawbacks of this method.
Understanding the Challenge 🚧
Career site configurations in Oracle Recruiting Cloud are essential for creating attractive and effective job postings. However, the inability to upload images directly poses a significant challenge. Images are a vital component for broadcasting and hosting job postings, enhancing visual appeal, and engaging potential candidates.
Introduction to Oracle Content Server 📁
Oracle Content Server is a robust tool within Oracle Fusion that allows users to manage various types of content, including images. By leveraging the content server, users can upload images and retrieve their URLs, making it easier to integrate them into career site configurations. This functionality offers a practical workaround to the existing limitation.
Step-by-Step Guide to Using Oracle Content Server 📋
Step 1: Accessing Oracle Content Server 🔑
To begin, log in to your Oracle Fusion account and navigate to the Content Server by adding “/cs” to the end of the Fusion POD URL:
https:<Fusion POD URL>/cs/
Step 2: Uploading Images 🖼️
Once you are in the Content Server, follow these steps to upload your images:
1. Click on the New Check-In button.

2. Choose “Standard Check-In”

3. Choose the Type as “DigitalMedia – Audio, video, and images”
4. Enter the title as required

5. In the Security Group field, choose the value “Public.” If “Public” is not available in the list of values, it means you do not have access to create the public link. In this case, follow the process described at the end of this blog on how to “Create and Assign a Custom Content Server Admin Role.”

6. Click on the “Primary File” and choose the image

7. Click on the “Check In” button to submit the file

Step 3: Extracting Image Links 🔗
After uploading the images, you need to extract their links:
1. Click on the “Content Info” link

2. Right-click on the ” Native File” hyperlink and select “Copy Link”

Step 4: Using Image Links in Career Site Configurations ⚙️
Now that you have the image URLs, you can use them in your career site configurations:
1. Go to the career site configuration settings.

2. Paste the copied image URL into the appropriate field for image placement.

3. Save the configuration and preview the changes to ensure the images display correctly.
Potential Drawbacks ⚠️
While using Oracle Content Server is an effective workaround, it is not without potential drawbacks:
1. URL Changes After Cloning or Refreshing: Whenever the instance is cloned from production to any of the lower instances, the URLs will change, rendering the previous URLs invalid. This necessitates updating all image URLs after each clone or refresh operation.
2. Difficulty in Updating Images: If you need to update an image, you cannot simply overwrite the existing file in the Content Server. Instead, you must upload a new version and obtain a new URL, which can be inconvenient and time-consuming.
3. Dependence on Internet Connectivity: Accessing and uploading images to the Content Server requires a stable internet connection, which may be a limitation in some environments.
4. Additional Steps in Workflow: This method introduces extra steps in the workflow, which may be time-consuming for some users. The process of uploading images, copying URLs, and pasting them into configurations is less streamlined compared to direct uploads.
5. Maintenance Overhead: Managing many images in the Content Server can become cumbersome over time. Keeping track of multiple URLs and ensuring they are correctly updated and maintained can be a significant administrative task.
6. Instance Downtime: If the instance is down for maintenance or any other reason, the links to the images hosted on the Content Server will not work, leading to broken images on the career site.
Steps to Create and Assign a Custom Content Server Admin Role 🛡️
1. Navigate to the Security Console

2. Select ‘Create Role’

3. Enter a unique value in the ‘Role Name’ field and ‘Role Code’ fields such as “FPF Custom Content Server Admin Role”

4. Choose a ‘Role Category’ and set it to ‘Common – Job Roles’

5. Click on the ‘Role Hierarchy’ train

6. Click the ‘+’

7. Search for each of the below security artifacts: “Content Administration” Role and then click ‘Add Role Membership’ => then Ok

8. Click on the ‘Users’ train

9. Add the user(s) you want.
Conclusion 🎯
The inability to upload images directly in Oracle Recruiting Cloud career site configurations is a significant challenge. However, by using Oracle Content Server, users can efficiently upload images, retrieve their links, and integrate them into their career site configurations. While this workaround introduces additional steps and some drawbacks, it offers a practical solution to the existing limitation. Give it a try and share your experiences in the comments below!
