Introduction

Job applications just got more conversational! With WhatsApp now integrated into Oracle Recruiting Cloud, candidates can verify their identity, receive updates, and even chat with recruiters—all through the app they already use every day.

It’s not just about convenience — it’s about transforming the candidate journey into a fast, familiar, and frictionless experience.

🔐 WhatsApp for Candidate Authentication

When candidates start an application or access self-service, they’ll now see a toggle between SMS and WhatsApp for verification.

✅ Returning candidates don’t have to set preferences again — their last selection is remembered automatically.

Admins can control what appears first (Email, SMS, or WhatsApp) under:
Setup and Maintenance → Recruiting and Candidate Experience → Career Sites Configuration → General Tab.<Default Mobile Message Type>

💬 WhatsApp as a Communication Channel

The real magic happens after authentication. With the Redwood Experience, recruiters can now connect with candidates directly via WhatsApp — individually, in bulk, or through automated notifications.

📍 WhatsApp messages can be sent from:

  • The candidate profile page
  • The Message Center
  • Candidate list views (search, job applications, prospects, pools)

Recruiters can send messages instantly, trigger notifications for key events (like pool additions), and use pre-approved templates for structured communication.

⚙️ Steps to Enable WhatsApp

Here’s how to get started 👇

1️⃣ Enable Redwood Experience – Required for WhatsApp-related features.
2️⃣ Opt in to Recruiting Booster – Mandatory for recruiter–candidate messaging.
3️⃣ Create a Messaging Provider – Set up your Infobip or Syniverse connection and activate it in Fusion Service.

5️⃣ Configure Career Site Defaults – Define the default communication method and mobile message type.
6️⃣ Create and Approve WhatsApp Templates – Use the WhatsApp Notification Template Library; get Meta approval before use.
7️⃣ Associate Templates with the Content Library – Map them for notifications and bulk messages.
8️⃣ Set Candidate Preferences – Candidates or recruiters can define WhatsApp as the preferred communication method.
9️⃣ Publish the Career Site – And you’re live!
