🚀 New Feature Alert: Oracle Fusion Core HR Module 24C – Redwood Pages for HCM Data Roles and Security Profiles 🌟

Hello, Fusion enthusiasts! We’re excited to introduce a fantastic new feature in the Oracle Fusion Core HR module, part of the 24C version. This enhancement focuses on enriching your user experience with new HCM Data Roles and Security Profiles pages developed using the Redwood toolset. Let’s dive into what makes this update a game-changer!

Overview of the New Feature 🌐

The new Data Roles and Security Profiles pages are built entirely using the Visual Builder Studio (VBS). This approach ensures a unique and seamless experience within Oracle applications. Here’s how you can access and use these pages:

Navigation Guide 🧭

  1. Quick Actions Pane: Head to the Quick Actions pane.
  2. My Client Groups: Select the My Client Groups section.
  3. Workforce Structures: Navigate to the Workforce Structures subsection.
  4. Data Roles and Security Profiles: You’ll find the new pages here.

Key Features 🛠️

The new Data Roles and Security Profiles task allows you to:

  • View Focused Search Results: By default, less-frequently used columns are hidden, providing a cleaner view.
  • Customize Columns: Use the Columns icon to hide or show columns and modify their order.
  • Sort Results: Click the ascending or descending icon to sort your search results.
  • Export Results: Easily export search results using the Export icon.
  • Edit Roles: Edit a role with a single click on the role name.
  • Simplified Role Definition: Quickly define a data role using a streamlined page by clicking the Add button.

Best Practices and Important Notes 📌

  • Create Data Roles Carefully: Always create a data role that inherits a job role without any existing security profiles. If any security profiles are attached, use the Revoke Security Profiles option to remove them.
  • Warning Message: If you attempt to create a data role based on a job role with existing security profiles, you’ll see the following message that you must acknowledge before continuing:

Important Reminder: STOP and reconsider inheriting your selected role if it has attached security profiles. Proceeding may result in skewed data access.

Streamlined Role Creation 🎨

We’ve simplified the data role creation process by removing individual train stop pages. Now, you can:

  • Provide basic information about the data role.
  • Specify if it’s to be used for delegation.
  • Associate predefined security profiles for each corresponding LOV.
  • Verify Details: Click the Details button to view a summary of your selected security profile.

Enabling the Feature 🛠️

To enable the new pages, follow these steps:

  1. Profile Options: Enable the following profile options:
    • ORA_HCM_VBCS_PWA_ENABLED (Enable VBCS Progressive Web Application User Interface)
    • ORA_PER_HCM_DATA_ROLE_REDWOOD_ENABLED (Redwood HCM Data Role Enabled)
  2. Setup and Maintenance:
    • Navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area.
    • Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
    • Search for and select the profile option.
    • Select the Level as Site.
    • Enter Yes in the Profile Value field.
    • Click Save and Close.

Tips and Considerations 💡

  • Define Security Profiles in Advance: You can no longer create new security profiles within this task flow.
  • Review Page Removal: The Review page has been removed.
  • Case-Sensitive LOVs: This will be addressed in Update 24D.
  • Details Button Availability: Not all security profiles have detailed summary pages yet. For these, use a separate browser window to confirm your selection. The Details button for document type security profile will be available in 24D.
  • Exporting Search Results: Ensure you have loaded all results before exporting.
  • Automated Testing: Update your testware as the user interface has been completely redesigned.

Access Requirements 🔑

To use this feature, ensure you have the following job role:

  • IT Security Manager: ORA_FND_IT_SECURITY_MANAGER_JOB
