These AI Agents can extract information from policy documents, contractual agreements, and government regulations, delivering targeted responses through a chat experience embedded within transactional pages.

📌 What’s New with AI Agents?

Oracle’s AI Agents take HR automation to the next level by enabling self-service assistance across various HR modules. Employees can ask questions and get accurate answers drawn directly from uploaded policy documents. Whether it’s leave policies, compensation details, or performance reviews, AI Agents enhance user experience with real-time, reliable responses.

🛠 Step-by-Step Guide to Enable AI Agents

1️⃣ Enable Required Profile Options

To activate AI Agents, ensure the following profile options are set to "Y

  1. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance.
  2. Search for the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
  3. Set the following profile options to ‘Y’:
    • ORA_HCM_VBCS_PWA_ENABLED – Enable VBCS Progressive Web Application User Interface
    • ORA_PER_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_SETUP_REDWOOD_ENABLED – Redwood Guided Journey Setup Page Enabled
    • ORA_PER_AGENT_TASK_TYPE_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_ENABLED – Agent Task Type Enabled for Guided Journeys

2️⃣ Configure a Tool

  1. Navigate to My Client Groups > Configure HCM Agents.
  2. Open the Tools tab.
  3. Click Add in the top left.
  4. Enter a Name and Description.
  5. Under Documents, upload policy-related documents one at a time in PDF format:
    • Click Add to create a new document.
    • Enter Document Name.
    • Upload the corresponding PDF attachment.
    • Click Save.
  6. After saving all documents, click Add in the top right to add your Tool to the system.
  7. Return to the Tools page, reopen the tool, and change the document status from Draft to Ready to Publish.

⚠️ Important Note: The system does not support Word documents (.docx) for document uploads. Ensure that all policy documents are converted to PDF format before uploading.

3️⃣ Process the Documents (Submit an ESS Job)

  1. Navigate to Navigator > Scheduled Processes.
  2. Click Schedule New Process.
  3. Enter “Process Agent Documents” in the Name field.
  4. Click OK and Submit.
  5. Return to Configure HCM Agents and verify that document statuses have changed to Published.

4️⃣ Create an AI Agent

  1. Navigate to the Agents tab in Configure HCM Agents.
  2. Click Add in the top left to create a new agent.
  3. Enter:
    • Name, Code, Description, and Category.
  4. Under Tools, click Add and select the tool created in the previous step.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Add in the top right to finalize.

5️⃣ Create a Guided Journey Agent Task

  1. Navigate to My Client Groups > Show More.
  2. Search for Guided Journey and open the page.
  3. Click Create at the top to make a new Guided Journey.
  4. Enter a Name and click Create Draft.
  5. Under Tasks, click Add.
  6. Enter:
    • Task Name
    • Task Type: Select Agent
    • Configuration: Select the created agent.
  7. Click Save and Activate.
  8. Note the Guided Journey Code for further steps.

6️⃣ Wire the Guided Journey with an Agent to a Page

  1. Navigate to the page where you want to enable AI Agents.
  2. Access Visual Builder Studio:
    • Click Settings and Actions in the top right.
    • Select Edit Page in Visual Builder Studio.
  3. Create or select an existing project.
  4. Locate the Page Property for Guided Journey.
  5. Enter the Guided Journey Code noted earlier.
  6. Switch to Live View to test interactions with your agent.
  7. Follow your organization’s guidelines to publish the page customization.

To illustrate the capabilities of AI Agents, a dummy absence policy document was created and uploaded into the system. The setup was completed based on this policy, and the AI Agent was configured accordingly. Below are screenshots demonstrating how employees can retrieve absence balance details using the AI Agent:
