Introduction
Oracle Fusion HCM has been steadily expanding its AI footprint across releases. While 25D introduced multiple intelligent capabilities across modules, 26A continues that momentum by embedding AI directly into operational HR workflows.
This is not simply about smarter search or summarisation. In 26A, AI participates in real transactions and real-time operational decision support.
Two powerful examples of this evolution are:
- Change Working Hours with AI Assistance
- Manage Journeys with AI Assistance
One enhances a core employment transaction. The other strengthens visibility and tracking within employee lifecycle processes. Together, they demonstrate how AI in Oracle Fusion is moving from assistance to execution.
Change Working Hours with AI Assistance
The Change Working Hours Advisor Agent is a conversational assistant designed to help managers and HR specialists update an employeeโs assignment working hours through a guided, policy-aware interaction.
Traditionally, changing working hours involves navigating multiple Redwood pages, reviewing current values, calculating FTE impact, validating eligibility rules, and drafting documentation. The advisor agent consolidates these steps into a single conversational flow.
The agent works in the context of one employee at a time. The user specifies the employee and effective date, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
What the Advisor Agent Handles
When initiated, the agent retrieves:
- Current assignment working hours
- Derived standard working hours
- Current FTE
When the user proposes new working hours, the agent:
- Calculates the updated FTE automatically
- Validates the requested change against company policies
- Displays which eligibility rules are met or unmet
- Generates assignment notes for documentation
- Prevents duplicate submissions if another working hours change is already in progress
- Submits the transaction into the standard approval workflow
The assistant respects existing role-based access and security policies. It does not override configured approval workflows. Instead, it prepares and submits the same underlying transaction through standard governance controls.

Business Impact
This capability reduces manual effort, improves accuracy in FTE calculation, and increases transparency in policy validation. Managers can immediately see whether a request aligns with organizational rules before submitting it for approval.
By auto-generating assignment notes, the agent also strengthens audit documentation and reduces administrative overhead for HR teams.
The transaction remains fully aligned with configured approval workflows, ensuring that speed does not compromise governance.
Manage Journeys with AI Assistance
The Journeys Assistant enhances the existing Journeys framework by enabling natural-language interaction for managing and tracking journeys and journey tasks.
Built using Oracleโs AI Agent framework and Retrieval-Augmented Generation, the assistant interprets user questions and provides concise, actionable answers based on organisational context and role access.
Instead of manually navigating Team Journeys or Organisation Journeys tabs, users can ask direct questions and receive immediate summaries with deep links.
Example Queries Supported
The assistant can respond to requests such as:
- Overdue onboarding journeys for direct reports
- All open journeys for my team
- Tasks pending in a specific journey
- Open journeys for a particular employee
- Completed onboarding journeys
- Tasks due within a defined timeframe
The assistant aggregates relevant data, summarises status clearly, and provides direct navigation to the corresponding UI pages for further action.

Business Impact
The Journeys Assistant reduces the time spent filtering and navigating through multiple screens. It simplifies adoption for new or infrequent users and provides managers with fast, role-aware insights into employee lifecycle processes.
By combining summarisation with deep-link navigation, it improves both visibility and actionability.
What 26A Signals About Oracleโs AI Direction
When considered together, these two features show a clear direction in Oracleโs AI roadmap.
The Change Working Hours Advisor Agent demonstrates AI embedded inside a core HR operation, handling calculations, validation, and documentation.
The Journeys Assistant demonstrates AI embedded within lifecycle management, enabling contextual search, aggregation, and guided navigation.
This is a shift from AI as an informational layer to AI as an operational co-pilot.
Security remains role-driven. Approval workflows remain intact. Policies remain enforced. What changes is the experience. The system becomes contextual, conversational, and proactive.
25D marked the expansion of AI across modules. 26A reinforces the notion that AI is now a foundational layer within the Redwood experience.
